Special Notes: Updated
to display correctly the PR ratings of newer 2400+ and 2600+ T-bred CPU´s.
Added new CPU ID´s in order to get them displayed correctly and removed
therefore support for 1500+ and 1600+. Maybe Bartons also will be displayed
by their PR rating but couldn´t check this with something faster than
my T-bred oc´ed to 2600+.
This
beta shall fix troubles with HD´s larger than 160GB. No warranty on this, nor
it´s working also on "Pro" Mobos.

2) The Symbios module is removed to avoid troubles.
3) Some personal adjustments for stability and compatibility
4) PCI IDE Busmaster is enabled by default
5) Parallel port mode is now set to EPP+ECP
6) C000- DC00 shadow option is unhidden and disabled like in an AWARD BIOS
(normaly hidden and set to cashed in the K7S5A BIOS)*
*Should improve compability / Disabling does not affect performance.
7) LAN autodetection is fixed now, therefore no splitting necessary.

5) BIOS TAG / Model is set to K7S5A, Manufacturer to ECS.
No other changes for now.
Notes: This BIOS might fix the cracking sound
caused by PCI videocards.
Observations: After flashing it Win2k asked me to update the sound drivers.

Das einfache aber gute
OC-Tool CHFSB:
Bis
BIOS 020809 einsetzbar ... Programm (in DOS starten) zum Overclocking mit
allen offiziellen BIOS-Versionen des K7S5A durch Erhöhung des
FSB.
Folgende
Einstellungen sind damit möglich: 100/100 - 100/133 - 112/112 - 124/124 -
133/133 - 138/138 - 150/150 - 166/166. Das Programm wird
unter DOS mit chfsb /i aufgerufen. Danach den neuen FSB per Ziffer 1 - 8 auswählen,
[Return] und neu booten. Der neue (OC-) FSB ist nun direkt in's CMOS
geschrieben worden und bleibt bestehen. Falls der PC nicht startet (z.B.
150/150 mit scharfen Speichertimings) einen CMOS-Memory-Reset nach dem
Handbuch durchführen.

Beschreibung

Bemerkung dazu: Aus dem offiz. BIOS s5a020206lan.exe wurde die Novell NetWare Ready Firmware
entfernt und durch ein Etherboot Rom ( version 5.0.5-mc1 ) ersetzt. Ansonsten
wurden keine Veränderungen gemacht. Dadurch ist es jetzt möglich mit dem
Board von DHCP-Servern im Netz eine IP zu beziehen und von diesem dann zu
booten. Dieses BIOS-Modding
wurde von Ralf aus K7Jo's Forum freundlicherweise zur Verfügung gestellt.
